Name.com Domain Setup

Adding or Editing CNAME Records

Note: You may find support asking for an IP Address to attach the domain name. We use CNames to attach domain names because using IP Addresses means a systems servers must remain the same and ours do not and flux with incoming traffic and other updates. To ensure domain names always work, please use a cname to attach the domain to your site. 🙂

The following is done within Name.com:

below:

  1. Log in to your Name.com account and click My Account at the top.
  2. Click my domains in green, on the left.
  3. Click on the domain name you wish to create an A record for.
  4. Click DNS Records on the left.
  5. Here you will create the cname record:
    • Change the drop-down menu Type to CNAME, set the Host field to www, and then enter oncarrot.com into the answer field. Then click the blue Add Record button.

Once the records are created, the domain should be pointing to the web server within 24 hours.

If you have trouble configuring your CNAME records, you can email us at support@oncarrot.com for assistance.
