Network Solutions Domain Setup

Note:

Unlike other registrars, Network Solutions is currently unable to redirect your base website domain to the www. version of your domain. We recommend completing the steps below, then transferring your domain to another registrar like NameCheap to complete the setup for both your main domain (e.g yourdomain.com) and the www. version of your site (e.g www.yourdomain.com).

Note: You may find support asking for an IP Address to attach the domain name. We use CNames to attach domain names because using IP Addresses means a systems servers must remain the same and ours do not and flux with incoming traffic and other updates. To ensure domain names always work, please use a cname to attach the domain to your site. 🙂

Understand that DNS updates will take up to 2 hours to take effect with Network Solutions (updates may resolve more quickly at some locations than others because many name servers on the Internet retrieve updates at different times).

Step 1: To update CNAME records

  1. Follow instructions for accessing DNS Manager – Advanced Tools to view the DNS Manager Settings page.
  2. On the DNS Manager Settings page, in the Host Aliases: CNAME Records section, click Add/Edit.
  3. Your current CNAME records are listed in editable form, and any Network Solutions service that is associated with the CNAME record is listed under the Other Host text box.
